We spent a few hours yesterday catching up with VelaTel’s world travelling CEO George Alvarez (currently on East Coast of United States) on the transformational changes in VELA’s China 4G strategy and updates on recent 8k filings and their existing LOI’d acquisition deals in the Balkans/East Europe.
We will break this extensive report into a few reports over the next few days.
Peru, with one of the fastest-growing South American economies, is the home of the inaugural VelaTel Global Communications ($VELA) wireless broadband network. It is also home to telecom company Go Movil, in which VelaTel has a 95% stake.

VelaTel Global Communications ($VELA) recently had a successful "soft launch" in eight cities in Peru. And as of Sept. 15, the soft launch period is over, the Go Movil stores are open, the networks are running, and they will fulfill all their orders as the customer premise equipment (CPE) clears customs in Peru. (We expect a vast majority of the 7,000 pre-orders will convert to customers.)

At NBT, we continue to believe VelaTel Global Communications ($VELA) is THE most-undervalued 4G carrier holding company in the world. But the company won't be holding on to that "small" status for much longer. Here are 10 reasons why we have big faith in this company, and the foothold it is securing in the mobile broadband Internet industry.
1. VelaTel's 100%+ Emerging Market Annual Growth Model vs. Legacy Carriers
Coming VERY soon: GO MOVIL and the VelaTel ($VELA) 4G Network stores open Aug 19th in Peru.
Filled with Infinity G 7" and 10" tablets, MiFi portable hot spots (for up to eight separate digital devices), indoor wireless WiFi routers connected to the Go Movil network...plus the work horse USB dongles.
All devices will be sold with prepaid data plans from 250MB a month ... at prices 40%-60% below 3G data plans and 10-20x faster.
Widespread high-speed broadband access on secured networks may not be a cure-all for problems that have plagued Peru, but leaders believe it is a good start in stimulating its rural economic infrastructure.
With a new name, new ticker and a brand-new achievement under its belt, VelaTel ($VELA) has a reason to celebrate today, as it has launched its GO MOVIL network in Peru ... giving 5 million people their first taste of 4G broadband mobility access in all eight cities where the company is licensed to do so.
I had a GREAT meeting with ChinaTel Group ($CHTL.PK) today, and want to share some of the highlights with you right away.
Our No. 1 Takeaway is….
ZTE Corp. (which provides telecom equipment and network solutions on the global scale) is backing ChinaTel for eight MORE countries in Central Europe and Russia. This includes ALL capital and operational expenditures to get the networks deployed and selling subscriptions.
