Is an iPhone for TD-LTE Networks Coming to China?

Apple (AAPL) is on the minds of China's wireless carriers, as customers can currently get iPhones through China Unicom and, now China Telecom has reached out to Apple to offer them as well.

Click here to read an article about China Mobile and Apple on Reuters.

But the BIGGER story is that China Mobile and Apple are going to announce next week that Apple is building a phone made for TD-LTE … that is the China Mobile 4G system.

China Mobile is world’s largest mobile carrier and is trying to make TD-LTE the dominant 4G system … by BUYING their way into new 4G LTE system providers.

What does that mean for ChinaTel ($CHTL.PK)? As a wireless network carrier, plenty.

China Tel Group’s eight Eastern Europe countries will run on TD-LTE … at 20 TIMES the speed of 3G. This makes their system the KILLER network for iPads and iPhones. And for the top 10% of those countries, EVERYONE wants iPads and iPhones. (I recently visited China and, let me tell you, they are very serious about owning Apple products!)

We expect this announcement VERY soon, so stay tuned for that and for more observations and opportunities from my recent trip to Shanghai and Beijing.
